Lightworks 2025.2


Although we endeavour to make every version of Lightworks as stable as possible, it remains an evolving platform, and as such, we cannot guarantee the stability of previous versions compared to more recent releases, which will include bug fixes, stability improvements, and more.

2025.2-56344 -- November 2025

  • New Workspace Layouts — Four new layouts (Edit, Effects, Audio, Export) with a "Unified Viewer" that auto-switches between source and sequence based on user interaction.

  • New Playback & Transcoding Engine — Improved performance with GPU acceleration, plus expanded codec support (AV1 10-bit on Mac, J2K RGB, EXIF orientation, and MXF fixes).

  • Enhanced Keyboard Shortcuts — New in-project shortcut icon, additional default shortcuts, improved search/filtering, and exportable shortcut reports.

  • Collections & Tags — Filters renamed to "Collections" with new reordering; Tags can now be added/removed directly in List View.

  • Workflow & Stability Improvements — Projects and sequences open immediately after creation, multi-monitor layouts are remembered, and numerous fixes for window management, timeline waveforms, audio levels, and effects controls.

  • Added extra safety on thumbnail images on the Import panel
    • Added further improvements to the licensing panel
    • The description of the Free version now includes the year
    • Added 'v' prefix to version description on perpetual licenses (so it looks less like an expiry date)
    • Added the correct information for inactive/invalid Create/Pro licenses for Perpetual/Subscription (instead of 'Invalid')
    • Added the user email address under the username
  • Fixed media relinking when candidate files have non-matching prefixes
  • Fixed it being possible to end up with effect-controls on the viewer when there are no effects
  • Fixed some instances where effect sliders will not work immediately after adding an effect

  • Fixed DVC100 media not playing back full frame
  • Fixed hang when changing the 'Playback colour space' to rec2020 with the Video Tools panel open in Flexible layout (macOS)
  • Fixed application not remembering the UI being stretched over multiple monitors on restart (macOS)
  • Fixed issues with AJA hardware I/O not being detected correctly (macOS and Windows)
