Lightworks Version 23.2: Effortlessly Exporting Videos to YouTube

Introduction

In today's post and video, I'm excited to share one of my favourite features in the recent release of Lightworks version 23.2 that allows you to export your videos directly to YouTube without ever leaving the app. This even includes subtitles and chapter markers, saving significant time!

Sounds complicated? Don’t worry; I'll walk you through the super simple, seamless process in this post. Once we're done, you can head to lwks.com/pricing to upgrade to 23.2, or start editing for free!

Step-by-Step Guide

Once you’ve got your video all ready to go, navigate to the export tab (now available in the edit layout), select sign in and link your Lightworks account and YouTube account. You’ll only need to do this once.

Lightworks offers various options for upload resolution and compression types, depending on your subscription tier.

You can choose a specific region of your timeline to export if you don't want the entire sequence for any tests or if you will release short clips.

The Overlay dropdown menu lets you decide whether to ‘burn in’ the timecode or subtitles on your video. Even if you select "none," your subtitles will be uploaded separately, allowing viewers to toggle them on or off.

If you're familiar with uploading videos to YouTube, you'll find that the remaining sections mirror those options perfectly. You can add a title, description, select a custom thumbnail, upload chapter markers based on cues in your Lightworks project, and include tags separated by commas.

Choose your video's category and visibility options — private, public, or unlisted with a private link. Finally, select the age rating for your content, and you’ll be ready to go! Hit the "Start" button, and Lightworks will handle the rest.

Conclusion

And there you have it! Your video is now on YouTube, with subtitles and all the required metadata. It's a straightforward, time-saving process that streamlines your video workflow.
